Back to work after a long weekend

Hello from Insanity Central!  Why is it that after a day off work is out of control?  My good intentions and my list for the day are buried somewhere on my desk – if you can find them – pass them back to me, please!  Evidently, all of West Michigan was out looking for houses this weekend!  It is just crazy, I am telling you!

I also wanted to blog about my weekend – so I am taking a short break to slow down and while I am doing that, I thought I’d tell you all about my exciting weekend!  Golf on Friday was wonderful – I took 10 strokes off my game from the week prior!!  I golf again on Wednesday night as a fill in for a friend who is on a league, here’s to lopping off another 10 strokes!  Woot, woot!

My diet is going wonderfully – I have misplaced 20 pounds now – here is hoping that they are lost for good and won’t make their way back to my body!  I am doing wonderfully on this diet, and I tried on some items of clothing from the “back” of my closet – some of which fit!!!  Hello, it is like a NEW wardrobe!  I have a few things that are a bit tight, but if I can loose another 10 pounds, my wardrobe will be expanding again!!  There is something invigorating about loosing weight, outside of the fact that there is less of one to haul around, but it is like your own personal cheering section inside you!!

Yesterday, I spent the day remembering family members – I don’t have too many relatives that have fought in wars – but all my grandparents are deceased and I spent yesterday thinking about them.  I hope that you all had a glorious day with family, friends, and loved ones – and that you all had some great memories to share.  I also took a great, long walk!  It was a truly beautiful day.

I got one Comfy sock done – sock #2 is cast on and has the cuff about done.  I would have gotten more done, but my allergies were obnoxious and I took some medication which promptly put me to sleep!  So much for knitting good intentions!

Speaking of good intentions, I had better find my list and get back to work!  Have a great Monday oops, Tuesday, everyone!

Sunday mornings are for…

Good Morning everyone!  Hopefully I am getting the hang of wordpress – I have some photo’s to share with you.  I have been up for a few hours, listening to my iPod and watching Sam sleep on the sofa.  Sleep on the sofa, you ask?  Yep, Sam is absolutely, positively, 100% convinced that the “Bogey man” is in our home – he has been sleeping on the sofa for safety!  Me thinks he watches too many scary things!  I am more than a bit irritated with my 15 year old son who suddenly is afraid of his shadow!!  So, I got up bright and early this morning – brewed a pot of coffee and sat down to knit.  As you can see, Penny went to “protect” Sammy as he snoozed away!

On the knitting front – while I did not get to knit night this week – I have found some minutes here and there to knit.  As you can see – sleeve 1 is  moving along nicely on my SKB.  I am working through the sleeve increases –  I have about 8 inches to go to bind off and hope to have that completed today!  Sleeve 2 is waiting anxiously for it’s completion as well.  Then, all I will need to do is frog a bit of the bottom – I need to take one or two decrease sections of the bottom.  It is a bit too large!

On the “large” front – I have lost 20 pounds on Adkins!  I have to frog a few rows from the bottom of this sweater to take out a few increases – decreasing the bottom!  How about that????

On the wordpress front – edited at a later time – things are not going wonderfully!!  I figured out the photo’s – but I need to work on clarity and correct size!  And, how this all got underlined is BEYOND me!  LOL, it is all a learning curve!

I cast on another pair of socks this week as well – socks for Ken!  This is about an hour of knitting!  Give me bulky yarn and size 11 needles!  I got the yarn from  Rose and Ruby – it was 30% off, plus I had a $25 dollar off punch card, 3 skeins later – $25 dollars!  Now, there is the deal of the century!  This yarn is sooo soft – 100% merino.  Ken is amazed at my knitting skills!  LOL, socks are a good start for this relationship – from the ground up.  Appropriate, huh?  I hope to have these babies done and on their recipient before the weekend is over!  No more cold feet!

Have a wonderful remainder to your Holiday weekend everyone – please remember and say a prayer for our service men and women who are serving on our behalf around this world.

 Have a Happy Memorial Day!

It’s Bloomin’ at my house!

I got home last night and what did I find on my doorstep?!? My Bloomin’ Feet socks from Gracie!! She knit them out of Colinette Jitterbug – which I have not yet knit with! They are a bit big – but they are awesome! Thanks Gracie – she also included some chocolate for me – which my kids promptly devoured! This is fine – because I have been doing Adkins and chocolate is a no-no!When I can figure out how to upload my pictures to wordpress – you will see photo’s of them! 🙂

Have a great day everyone!

**editing – okay, they are here – but obviously I need to work on picture size.  Any wordpress users out there – please leave a comment with some help!  🙂  Thanks everyone!

Monday Morning Blah’s?

Am I the only one who feels like the weekend is a total blur?  Did we have a weekend?  It was hectic – and Heidi had her All City Concert on Sunday afternoon.  It was lovely!  Just amazing – I am stunned at how good she is getting, and how good the groups she plays in are getting!!  Wow!

Maybe what I really need is a weekend from my weekend!  Now there is a thought – or if wishful thinking could propel a person to a warm, quiet place – I am wishful thinking my heart out!

Next weekend is the official start to summer – Memorial Day – the weatherman is not promising us the greatest weather – but NO WORK ON MONDAY!!  There is something to look forward to!

I picked up my SKB again this weekend – I am working on the sleeves in tandem.  This way I know they will be even!!  I also need to pull the bottom out and frog a bit – I need to remove one set of increases and knit it straight for a bit longer than I did.  But, I will do this after I have the sleeves done.  I am anxious to get this sweater done – I think it will be so lovely on.

I better get back to work – have a great Monday all!

Weekend’s are for catching up!

Hello everyone!  Does everyone feel like the weekend just flies by – with all the catch up you do from the week?  I cannot believe that Saturday is almost over!  I have almost all the laundry done, house cleaned, planted some flowers, and started a NEW blog!

Welcome to my new blog.  I enjoy blogging, but it is so hard to figure out the email of the commenter on blogspot – I made the decision to move over here to wordpress.  Thank you all for following me over here.  If you comment now, you will get a response back from me!

My oldest graduates on June 4th.  You may not all be aware that we have a very strained relationship.  She does not live with me – and has not for years.  Mother’s Day was not so great – she did not want to see me or even speak to me.  It is painful to talk about – but, this may be good therapy.  Things began to go downhill with her in 6th grade.  She has anorexia nervosa – and by the time she was in 8th grade we had her in weekly counseling sessions, dietician appointments, doctor appointments.  It was 9 months of hell.  On Good Friday 2004- of all days – her father called me to tell me that Rachel would not be coming back to my house.  Lack of support from him has enabled her to stay there.  I have struggled with a relationship with her ever since.  Oh – she comes over for Christmas and her siblings bring her her birthday gift – but I have measured minutes, not free access.  Her eating disorder has resurfaced recently and I have been an outsider watching her loose weight.  She wants nothing to do with religion – although I pray fervently for her.  This is the main reason she moved out – she did not want to participate in “organized religion”.

Back to what I originally wanted to talk about – Rachel is graduating – and I have been uncertain if I will even be invited to any of the festivities surrounding that.  I am not having a party for her at my home – she would not come.  My ex has graciously asked me to “help” with the festivities at his home.  I will bite my tongue and help.  I am going to invite disaster as well – I am inviting some family and friends.  If you hear fireworks on the 10th of June – you will know it is just me!

On to a happier subject – things are moving nicely along with my “dinner companion”!  Heidi has her last concert of the year – the All City Concert is Sunday -and Ken is going with me!  Yes, he has met my kids – or at least 2 of my kids.  Heidi and Sam both give him a “thumbs up”.   Sam went today and helped Ken with mowing the yard – in exchange for a ride in Ken’s classic vehicle.  I don’t know what kind of vehicle it is, but Sam was all excited – it is red and FAST!  Ken is playing Texas Hold ‘Em tonight – so I have the Indydog here.  Indy, Copper, and Penny get along nicely – although Miss Noel is not so sure she likes him!

Hope you are all having a great weekend – my evening is going to revolve around knitting and watching Grey’s Anatomy and ER that I “tivo’ed” this week.  That – and coloring my hair!  Later everyone!

Bloomin’ Mother’s Day!

Hello everyone! Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there! It is a beautiful day here – and it was such a blessing to have 2 of my kids with me to worship today. An even bigger blessing, to take communion with them. This was a great way to start the day. We had a nice dinner – and they were off to their dad’s house.

Hope you are all having a wonderful day – filled with blessings of children and all that goes with them.

My Heidi made the Chamber Orchestra – this is an audition only orchestra at her school. After much hard work and practice – she made it on Friday! Here is a “hurrah” to Heidi for making this one pround mom! You are amazing, Heidi.

Did you all have a nice weekend? I did some house cleaning on Saturday morning – and Saturday afternoon I sat in the sun and knit! At LONG last my BF socks are complete. How do they look?

They will be blocking shortly and winging their way to their deserving recipient. I have truly loved knitting these socks for my pal. Each stitch was lovingly done – she is truly an amazing person. I am eager to see if she likes them!! The color and the pattern will suit her to a “T”.

Here is to all of us moms having an awesome afternoon – blessings to all of you!

Welcoming Friday – it has been a long week!

Hello everyone! I am certainly glad that it is finally Friday! It has been an infinitely long week! Last night I went to Knit Night – I had missed the past couple of weeks due to other commitments – and it was soooo good to be back! I love seeing what everyone is working on – Ann was working on her Tulip Socks, AnnMarie was knitting a beautiful bag to be felted, Ruby was knitting a baby sweater for the shop, Barb was finishing up her second bucket bag – a gift for her daughter for Christmas, Karen was seaming up her first Wallaby!

Okay – when I grow up, I want to be as organized as Barb!! Christmas gifts in May!!! Plus, Barb will be retiring in June – how exciting for her!

For myself – I was working furiously on my BF socks. I managed to get quite a bit done – I have 3 repeats before I start my toe decreases. I hope to knit at lunch today – and then the weekend comes and I have nothing on the agenda!! So, this mother requests for Mother’s Day – uninterrupted knitting time!!

Tulip Time has been moving along – outside of a few traffic hassles – it has been a fairly uneventful week. The weather certainly has cooperated – this is good for all those visitors to our fair and blooming city. This year we had a bumper crop of tulips!! All that cold weather in March and April certainly helped that out! For all of you out there who have never been to Holland in May – our city plants over a million tulips – springtime here is truly a thing of beauty.

What are all of your plans for your Mother’s this weekend? Come out of hiding and share with me what your plans are – I might have a prize for a randomly selected commenter!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Tulip Time!

Hello Everyone. Well, it is Tulip Time here in Holland – and we are gearing up for a big week. My plan is to work out of town on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday! Avoid the traffic on the big days! There will be parades, street scrubbing, bands, and miles and miles and miles of tulips.

It has been a productive weekend here…. my dinner companion has been “fixing” things for me around the house! Curiouser and curiouser, he seems quite handy and even tempered. He was even patient with me to watch the Kentucky Derby on Saturday afternoon – hats and all!!

I had drawn this line in the sand about what would be acceptable and unacceptable in my next relationship – if there ever was one. You all know – those qualities of the “perfect imaginary man”. My list was quite long and included things like must listen to NPR, loves to dance, listen to jazz, like teenagers and dogs. Well, this line I had has been moving – there are times when I cannot even find my line!! I have been laughing much, feeling special, and had some quite intense conversations. He has introduced me to his family and it all feels so “alright”. I enjoy his teasing sense of humor and his smile. He was not what I was looking for – but I think he is what I need.

Well – I had better get off here and enjoy what remains of this truly lovely Sunday. Wishing everyone a wonderful week!
