Thoughts on a Wednesday

Hello Everyone!

I am managing to stay current in Blog 365.

I have “A” completed for the ABC Along.

I have spent some time each day to spin, which works for NaspiMoMo – National Spin More Month.

Whew – this is almost like a job!!

I have spun up some Kid Mohair that I got for a song from someone who was stash busting.  It is from Koenig Farms.  Mohair is a bit slippery to spin, but the halo on the finished product is really lovely.  One draw back to this fiber – vegetable matter.  The stuff was filled with it!  Yeah, picking out pieces of wood, straw, and whatever’s was oh so much fun – not.

The color is not great – but it has shades of purples, blues, and very pale yellows.

Then, I finished spinning and plying some Merino that I got from the same source – there was just over a pound of merino – so I ended up with a good quantity of yarn.

Much more purples in this fiber – and some great greens.  I need to set the twist yet on these skeins, but once it is dry – I want to swatch some of this up.  I still have some “thick and thin” spots, but all in all, I am very happy with the end result.

I also have spun up some pencil rovings – in two different shades.  One all orangy in the shades, the other greens.  I want to knit this up into the Chevron Scarf – and it will be my St. Paddy’s Day scarf – The Orange and The Green.  I should fit in with any crowd then, don’t you think?

Hmmm, I thought I had a photo of the orange – I will have to get one on here.  I am extremely pleased with the consistancy of this yarn.  These colors are right up my alley – and a bit of weekend knitting should have the Chevron Scarf completed in short order!

Then, one last high light from  St. Distaff’s Day – my friend Rob did some dyeing demonstrations during the day.  He dyed some superwash merino roving, one of which you see below.  I am excited to spin this up.  There are long color runs, but I am thinking that I am going to spin each color by itself and then ply 2 colors together…. stay tuned for progress on this!

Lest you all think that there is not job hunting going on here at the Home for the Unemployed, never fear.  Job hunting is part of my morning routine.  One cup of coffee and I head over to Monster.com each morning to check what new jobs I can apply for. Then heading over to the Michigan Talent Bank to see what new jobs are there – there are not so many here, but I look daily! Then, I direct my mouse to mLive.com to see what is available there.

Who ever thought looking for a job would be so unproductive!

I then reward myself with a bit of blog reading and some Ravelry play time.

Okay, I am off to knit on my Nordic Star Socks – I am through the second pattern set and about to begin the third pattern – the heel is looming in my sight!  9 short rows to go.

I will post a photo tomorrow to show you my progress!

Have a good one all!
